Susan B. Anthony was one of the main leaders in the American women's suffrage movement. She paved the way for future generations of women. She fought long and hard for women to gain the right to vote and was even arrested. But at her last convention knowing it would be her last because her health was failing she said, " Failure is impossible." By saying those three words she left hope for many. In 1920, fourteen years after she died, women gained the right to vote.

 

" The day will come when men will recognize woman as his peer and not only at the fireside, but of the councils of the nation. Then, and not until then, will there be the perfect comradeship, the ideal union between the sexes that shall result in the highest development of the race."
