Elizabeth Cady Stanton

1815-1902

Elizabeth Cady Stanton along with Susan B. Anthony led the women's suffrage movement. She struggled to gain the right to vote for women for more than fifty years, but like Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth never lived to see women gain the right to vote in 1920.

"Because man and women are the complement of one another, we need woman's thought in national affairs to make a safe and stable government."
