Abigail Adams

1744-1818

Abigail Adams was the wife of the United States second president John Adams. She was well known for what she wrote in one of her most famous letters to her husband, " Remember the Ladies." She insisted that women have equal rights. The women's movement began with her; she was way ahead of her time.

"If particular care and attention is not paid to the ladies we are determined to forment a rebellion and will not hold ourselves bound by any laws in which we have no voice or representation."
