Egyptians did not eat much meat. They got most of their protein from
grain and usually had snacks such as figs, grapes, peaches, mangoes, dates,
plums, oranges, apricots, bananas. Other foods they ate were beans, clover,
corn, onions, rice, potatoes, sugarcane, wheat, sardines, and shrimp. The
adults usually drank coffee and hot cinnamon or hot tea. Some even drank
wine or beer, otherwise they drank water.
