A knight was always expected to be loyal to his master and church. He was also thought to be pure just, to tell the truth, to be fair, and not cheat with his enemies, to be generous and nice, to all in distress, to never be scared, and to protect the helpless. His honor was his most priceless jewel. If a knight broke his vows, he was publicly embarrassed. On a post, hung his shield, upside down, with paint on it, or his armor was shattered, and his sword broken over his head. A knights duty was never done but he was rewarded greatly for his honesty and hard work.
