The Bubonic Plague was also known as the Black Death. It swept through Europe, taking one third of Europe's population with it in only four years! It was carried by the flea of the black rat. A reason it was called the Black Death was the horrible black swellings it made on the victim's body. Doctors wore large beaks filled with medicine when they were visiting a victim of the Black Death. The Bubonic Plague struck fear in the hearts of millions and it still does today, because people are still scared that it may come to.... us. Stories of vampires arouse with the Bubonic Plague too. What made people think this was because after somebody died from it their gums turned blood red and their skin became ghostly white...
