Burton is an incredible magician. Lance was born on a farm in Kentucky
on March 10, 1960. He started to become interested in magic before he was
six years old. He was at a Christmas party where there was a magician performing.
The magician asked for a volunteer and Lance ran up to the stage. The magician
performed a trick called, "The Miser's Dream" and pulled silver dollars
out of Lance's ear. Lance was amazed. "What a great way to make money and
people like you too!" he thought. Right then, he knew that he wanted to
be a magician.
One of Lance's neighbors heard that Lance was interested in magic. He gave him a book called, "Magic Made Easy," which contained ten tricks. Lance performed the tricks to his neighbors. Lance started to spend all of the money he made from chores and allowance on all of the latest wonders at a local magic shop in Louisville, Kentucky. Harry Collins, the magician who impressed Lance years before, was a full-time professional magician in Kentucky. When Lance was a teenager, Harry taught Lance a lot about magic. As Lance got older, he kept learning more and more about magic. When he entered his first competition in 1977, he ended up with first prize. In 1980, around his 20th birthday, he became the first winner of the "Gold Medal for Excellence" from the International Brotherhood of Magicians. He decided that the time was right to move to Southern California. There he appeared on "The Tonight Show" for his first time. He also performed in Las Vegas shortly after that. Lance was on television more and more. He was becoming pretty famous. Lance Burton performs his latest tricks today for his audience to enjoy. His tricks are so amazing! |
