In Foundation, their are no laser weapons. Thank you. Have a nice day! Just kidding! But that sentence is true. In Foundation, atomic energy is used for everything, including weapons. They do not use lasers, but some type of atomic beam, although nothing is said as to how it is created. There is special shielding to block from these weapons, and there are special types of weapons to get through this shield. I'm sure this must go on and on, until it becomes either impractical or impossible to build the next generation in shields or the next generation of weapons. The shields are visble in low lighting, and the beams are visible no matter what.
