Wyoming

        The capital of Wyoming is Cheyenne. The state tree is the Cottonwood. The state bird is the Meadowlark and the state flower is the Indian paintbrush. The population is 459,511. The name Wyoming comes from the Delaware Indian word meaning "upon the great plain." It is nicknamed "Equality."  It got its nickname because it was the first state to let women vote. It also was the first state to allow women to hold public office and to serve on jury duty. There are also many exciting parks there to visit. There is the very famous Yellowstone National Park. With its huge majestic geysers and marvelous scenery, it is a number one place to visit. It was discovered 1807-1808 by John Colter. There is also a lot of history in Yellowstone. Its lodge, the Old Faithful Lodge is one of the oldest standing lodges in the U.S..

        The mining in Wyoming is also big. They mine many different products such as petroleum, natural gas, coal, soda ash, and sulfur. The sulfur comes from the local natural hot springs in the park. Like many other states it has big fishing. The locals fish for trout, bass, and pike. Of course there are are many other fish in the state's ponds and lakes.
