Wisconsin

        Wisconsin's capital is Madison. The state tree is the Sugar maple and the state bird is the Robin. The state flower is the Wood violet. The population is 4,955,127. The name Wisconsin came from many Indian meanings like "homeland" and "wild rice country." The nickname of the state is the "Badger State," came first to describe the life and work of a Wisconsin miner. Mining was one of the main industries in the early age of Wisconsin life. The mining helped shape the state and it still is a big resource but the amount of stone and Portland Cement has decreased over the years of mining the tunnels. The first people to live in the area were many Mexican Indian tribes such as the Winnebago and the Dakota.

        The state bird is the robin and the tree is the sugar maple. The flower is the wood violet and the song is On, Wisconsin. Some attractions in the area are Dells Boat Tours and the Circus World in Braboo. There is also something for the aviators, the E.A.A. Air Adventure Museum.  Most of the state's economy comes from tourism and transportation.
