        The capital of Utah is Salt Lake City. It is the 45th state. The population is 1,770,212. The name Utah comes from an Indian name that means "People of the Mountains." The nickname "Beehive State" comes from the Mormons that settled in this region. They called it "Deseret" which is a Mormon word for honeybee, meaning hard work and industry. The state motto is "Industry." The state bird is the sea gull. The state tree is the blue spruce. The state flower is the Sego lily. "Utah, We Love Thee" is the state song.
