Hawaii

The capital of Hawaii is Honolulu.  The state tree is the Kukui. The state bird is the Nene ( Hawaiian goose) and the state flower is the Yellow hibiscus. The nickname is the "Aloha state." Hawaii was named by Hawaii Loa, the island's discoverer. Its nickname comes from the Polynesians' friendliness to tourists. Among other things, Aloha means love. If you were to visit Hawaii some attractions might be deep sea fishing or  the Sea Life Park Aquarium. The economy mostly comes from the tourism and, believe it, movies. Hawaii consists of seven islands.

Since it is located so close to the equator, it is a perfect vacation spot. Most people go there to enjoy the sun, water fun, and the great aquariums and aquatic life. There are also many other exotic things such as the black sand beaches. They are called this because of the molten lava that erupted from a volcano and dried on the beach. Hawaii is also the place attacked by Japanese bombers on December 7, 1941.  The attack, which destroyed many ships and killed many U.S. servicemen, caused the United States to declare war on Japan. There is a memorial there to represent the USS Arizona at Pearl Harbor.
