Radar

Radar is a system for locating the position, motion and nature of a far off objects by the radio waves going from the radar system and bouncing off the objects surface. The distance of  the object from the radar source is determined by measuring the time it takes for the radar signal to reach the target and return.  Robert H. Rhines invented radio detection and ranging system, (in other words radar). He was born on August 30,1922, in Boston Massachusetts. He earned a B.S. in physics from M.I.T. After he was an Army Signal Corps officer, he received a law degree from Georgetown in 1946 specializing in patent law.
