Endangered Species in the Everglades

Like many other National Parks, the Everglades has quite a few endangered species. Many animals have lost their homes and their lives because of water drainage, hunting, and building farms. There are 16 endangered species and 6 threatened animals in the Everglades. These are the Endangered Species. Click on them to find out why they are endangered and how the Everglades water problem affects them.

Saving one of the endangered species is sometimes dangerous to another. For example, the current plans are to allow the nesting grounds of the Cape Sable seaside sparrow to dry out and thus bringing back the species. But, when this happens it will create flooding in other parts of the Everglades. Doing this is bad for the wood stork, the snail kite and the crocodile. This will also cause more flooding on the Miccosukee lands.
