| The first things
Audrey remembers is in the winter quarters of the Ringling Brothers. Audrey's
father was repainting circus murals for some more money while still an
art student. While living with people from the circus Audrey made many
friends. She can remember being held by the fat lady who couldn't stand
up. She also recalls being bounced on the knee of the world's tallest man.
Audrey could swim before she could walk and she could walk and climb seven foot fences by the time she was seven months old. People in the circus thought she would grow up to be a trapeze artist. Audrey's second language was Spanish because when she was two years old her mother and father traveled to Mexico to study art. Her mother read to her every night and by the time she was three she had learned to love to read. Audrey had two younger sisters. Audrey and both of her sister learned to play music, dance, paint or do drama. They had a little stage that had floodlights and a red curtain to finish it off. In elementary school Audrey wanted ao be an artist or an illustrator for children's book. Now she noticed that she has accomplished both. Audrey once got in trouble in school for scribbling out Dr. Seuss's name on of her favorite books and writing in her own. The four generations before Audrey were all artists but she is the only girl. Seven years after Audrey and Don's wedding she wrote a book called Moonflute and Don illustrated it. From then on they have worked together. When Audrey's son (Bruce Robert) was two years old she started reading to him. It reminded her of when she was a young child. |
