| How is there shell constructed ? | Their shells are in two pieces joined together on the underside. The upper shell (Carapace) is made of bony plates fused together. |
| How big does a turtle get ? | Some turtle spieces are tiny and others grow over six feet! |
| Where are turtles found ? | Turtles can be found on every continent except Antartica. Some kinds of turtles like freshwater and some like the ocean. Some turtles live on dry land. |
| What do turtles eat ? | Turtles can be vegetarians or carnivorous. Most have a mixed diet of fish, insects, shellfish, and water plants. |
| What kinds of turtles taste better to eat ? | Vegetarian turtles taste better because sometimes carnivorous turtles eat dead animals. (YUCK)! |
| Where do turtles lay their eggs ? | All turtles lay their eggs on land. |
| When and how do turtles lay their eggs ? | Ocean living turtles lay their eggs at night. They scoop out a hole in the sand and lay their eggs. Then they are covered with sand so they are safe from predators. The females then leave the eggs. |
| When do the babies hatch ? | The turtles hatch after 7-10 weeks. |
| Do they survive easily ? | No. They are normally eaten before they reach the sea. |
