| Do they really fly? | No. Flying fish don't fly. They actually glide! |
| How far can they glide? | Strong glides can go as much as 180 meters! Compound glides can cover 400 meters!!(That's 1,300feet!) |
| Why do they fly? | They fly to escape predators. Sometimes they fly on to the decks of ships! |
| Are there different types of flying fish? | Yes. They are all very different too. Some like the Exocoetus Volitans have only 2 wings. The California flying fish (Cypselurus californicus) have 4 wings. |
