MATERIALS NEEDED
1 straw
1 glass
Water
PROCEDURE
1. Fill the glass with water.
2. Make a cut in the mid-point of the straw.
3. Put the straw in the glass.
4. Blow into the straw.
RESULT
The water is pushed out of the cut in the straw.
WHY?
When your breath exits through the cut in the straw, the pressure
at the bottom half of the straw is lessened. The swirling water
is what happens in the real hurricane, when the wind flows from
the surface to the upper atmosphere.
