The Lighthouse of Alexandria

Picture of lighthouse

Standing as tall as a 40 story building, the lighthouse has guided sailors away from the rocky outcrop on which it stood. The city on Alexandria, founded by a
Alexander the Great, is located in the northern Africa, on the Mediterranean sea. More specifically on the ancient island of Pharaoh, now within the city of Alexandria
The lighthouse was thought to be created on 3 stages. The first stage, and lowest square was 1834 ft high, with a a cylinder core. The middle section was octangular, and stood 60 ft. high. The top piece was circular , and probably stood 24 ft high. The hollow middle was provided with fuel for the fire atop. Positioned at the top was a mirror, for day time guidance. It is thought that a statue of Position, an ancient Grecian god who was god of the underworld, topped the lighthouse.
The lighthouse was the last, (beside the PYRAMIDS ) to stand. The light house of Alexandria was eventually brought down by a by an earthquake. There was a castle built in its place.
