Dolphins

Dolphins belong to the group called phylum Chordata. 

Dolphins live their whole lives in water.  Most  species are found in fresh water.

There are 64 species of dolphins. Each species has a color pattern. These colors range from a solid gray of Atlantic bottlenose dolphin to the more colorful gray and white pattern of the Atlantic whitesided dolphin or the spotted dolphin.

A Dolphin breathes through a blow hole which is located on the top of it's head.  The blow hole is not connected to the mouth or throat.

Dolphins can reach a speed of 22 mph in the open ocean.

Dolphins can hold their breath for 12 minutes.

Dolphins can dive to depths of 900 feet.
