Simple Machines

All of the simple machines work to make jobs easier. One of the simple machines is the pulley. The pulley was invented in 400 B.C. in Italy. A pulley is a circular level that consists of a grooved wheel rotating. Single pulleys are used in machines where the direction of movement must be changed. For example, towering cranes use pulleys to lift heavy things when building sky scrapers. The more wheels a pulley has, the easier it is to lift a load. In conclusion, pulleys are used to lift heavy loads.

Another example of a simple machine is a lever. A lever is a rod or bar that rests on a pivot. A load at one end of the lever can be lifted by applying an effort at the other end. Effort is the force that you apply to lift a load. Some examples of the first class levers are scissors, pliers and a hand cart. To sum it all up, simple machines are used every day in our life.
