  • WHEN it was built: 221-226 BC.
  • WHERE: Xian, China - Near and under Mount Li.
  • WHY: To protect Qin Shihuangdi in the afterlife.
  • HOW: 700,000 people were hired to build the tomb and the army.

  • WHO found it: Yang Jungeng and local farmers.
  • WHAT did they find: Yang found the head of a clay soldier which led to the discovery of the Terra-Cotta army.
  • WHEN: 1974 (digging still continues today).
  • WHERE: Xian, China - Near and under Mount Li.
  • WHY is it important : Because now we know more about China's history and dynasties.
  • HOW did they discover it: By accident. They were digging a well during a drought.
