WHAT it was: Inca's hidden city.
WHEN it was built: 1400-1500's.
WHERE: In the Andes Mountains in Peru.
WHY: Archaeologists don't know why it was built - maybe a royal getaway.
HOW: Built out of stone.

WHO: Dr. Hiram Bingham.
WHAT: Machu Picchu.
WHEN: July 24, 1911.
WHERE: North of Cuzco in the Andes Mountains, Peru.
WHY is it important : because now we know a little bit more about the Inca culture.
HOW did he discover it: He had read about the legendary lost city of the Incas. When he arrived in Cuzco, he asked local people for information.
