Stonehenge
This megalithic (large stone) monument in England has kept people guessing for many years. Built in 2900 BC, and recorded by William Stukeley in the early 18th century, archaeologists would like to find clues about how these giant stones were moved into place, and why. There are more than 160 stones, and the structure is over 100 feet wide.
What is Stonehenge and who built it?
1. They were tombs.
2. They were astronomical calendars.
3. They were meeting sites.
