Mayan Civilization Collapse
Although the Mayan civilization achieved great accomplishments with their accurate calendars, extensive knowledge of astronomy, and sprawling cities, most of the cities in the southern lowlands were abandoned between 800 and 900 AD. Many other Mayan cities continued to thrive in the Yucatan peninsula, until the Spanish explorers came along. Archaeologists have been trying to figure out why this civilization just picked up and left some of their cities.
What made the Mayan Civilization disappear?
1. Other Mexicans and their armies.
2. Over-population.
3. Natural disaster.
