The Dig
Interact! Mysteries |
Mystery of the Israeli Piggy Bank At an excavation in Israel some years ago a volunteer found a small bowl. When it was excavated, the archaeologists found out that the bowl was covering a jar stuck into the ground. The pieces dated back about 3000 years. Inside the jar was about 10 pounds of silver in tiny little pieces. This jar appeared to be someone's piggy bank, which they buried in the corner of their backyard, and every time they made some money, they would remove the bowl, and put the pieces of silver in the jar. They must have been pretty rich, because ten pounds of silver was worth a lot back then. What do you think happened to make them leave all their wealth behind and never come back to take it? |
