What Made This Pioneer Famous: |
He was made famous because he got buffalo meat for the railroad workers while they were working on the Kansas Pacific Railway. He claimed to have killed over 4,000 buffalo for them. That was how he got his nickname, "Buffalo Bill." After doing this job, he became a prairie scout in the Indian Wars. |

In the winter, he would act and in the summer he was a scout. A few years later, he started the The Wild West Show in Omaha. They used real cowboys and real Indians. |
