The kernels need to have a certain percentage of moisture to be used in further processing. If it was a particularly wet season, the kernel will need to be dried before being used. |

| Soil Testing | To check the soil in a field before a crop is planted. The soil is checked for phosphorous and lime among other things. Good soil should fall within a certain range on a scale to grow strong, healthy crops. |
