We interviewed Gary Ikeler, an employee of a farm service cooperative in DeKalb County. He said that a farm service cooperative provides a service and/or products to the farmers for every agricultural need that the farmer has.

Some of the products that cooperatives sell are:

• chemicals, such as anhydrous, that are applied to the fields before crops are planted.
  
  
• petroleum products like diesel, oil, and LP that are used to run the farm machinery or heat buildings where animals are sheltered or grain elevators where grain is dried to the proper moisture content before being shipped off for its many uses.
  
  
• feed that is used to produce healthy livestock.
  
  
• seeds for planting crops.
  
  
• fertilizers for adding extra nutrients to the soil to get the most yield from the crops.
