FFA

Another organization in the agricultural field is the Future Farmers of America (FFA). This is a program where kids go to agricultural classes in school and compete in EDC's (or contests) against other groups. The FFA also allows the children to raise money for future activities. Also, it teaches kids about agriculture, horticulture, and livestock.

FFA Cattle
These cattle were raised on a farm near Newark, IL. They are different breeds. From left to right: Angus Crossbred, Black Angus, Limousin Crossbred, and Angus Crossbred.

The FFA is an organization that will help the older members in the very near future. Many businesses will require and hire people that have been in the FFA program rather than people who have no experience with the land and outdoors. Activities included within the program are: different activities including livestock, horticulture, and agriculture. SAE's are classes in which you pick a subject that you are around all the time every day and take a record every day for a period of time. During this specific project you can earn profit (money).

Below is an FFA member from Newark High School. She is modeling the official FFA jacket that each member wears as part of the FFA organization.
