Re. Request to use book covers on an educational website

Hi, my name is Madeline Gesslein.  I am a 6th grader in P.S. 56 in New York City.  My teammates Kim, Katie and I are working on an educational website for a national competition called Thinkquest Junior http://www.thinkquest.org about copyrights, trademarks and how to ask for permission for images and information on the internet.

We are trying to include personal experiences from people who work on protecting art rights.  Would someone from your department be interested in helping our project by writing a few paragraphs about the way students should write to your company for permission to use text or images from your books or your website?  We would love to include advice from your department.

As an example of an image a student could ask for, we would like to ask for permission to use a digital images, from your website or from amazon.com of the following book covers:
ISBN 679-83372-2   Dogs Don’t Tell Jokes
ISBN 679-88688      Harry’s Mad
ISBN 67987619-7    Some Friend
ISBN 679-88558-7  Dear Levi
ISBN 394-80572     There’s a Boy in the Girl’s Bathroom
ISBN 0-394-82037  Phantom Tollbooth

Our competition deadline is March 31, 2000.  If there is any way you can respond to us by e-mail the address is --------@worldnet.att.net  My address is ----------------.  I can only receive a fax if you call my father and he turns on our computer.  The fax number is --------------.

We really hope you can help us with this project.

Sincerely,
Madeline
