Keeping track of images and information that you get permission to use is hard work. We have created a form for you to fill out every time you find something you might use on your website!! When you keep a log it will help you create the pages without the hassle of putting together the pieces later on. It will help you with links, acknowledgments and e-mailing the people later in the project. Here are some things you need to keep track of. You can use this list to make your own log.

Click here for an example of a form that you can print out and use. Keep the form or log in a loose-leaf binder that you can add to as you go along with your project. Or, you can copy (ctrl c) each of these tables on to your own computer and make a form that you use on your computer. Make sure you copy it to a disk or paper because sometimes computers crash and you never know who will be the victim next.

The Thinkquest Junior Braces team once lost my 26 page acknowledgments section in the last week of the Think Quest Junior Competition. Luckily we had already sent most of it to the server so we were able to download the page back to our fixed computer and retype what we had lost.

Now I know I should have saved it on a disk every time I added to it. That could be a pain in the neck. A written log book is a good back up too!! Here is are some of the information that you need on a permission log.

bullet  Describe the image or text that you would like to use.

bullet  What is the name of the image or text used on the website that you take it from?

bullet  What is their website's home URL address?

From what URL address or page did you get the image or text?

Under what name did  you save the image or text?

On which page did you save the image or text?

Did you get permission? Yes or no?

What is the name of the person and or company that you wrote to for permission?

What is that specific person or company's e-mail or mail address?

What is the date you received permission for the image or text?

What kind of acknowledgment or conditions must be followed to use the image or text?

Have you added the conditions to your website? Yes or no?

Did you add this to your acknowledgment to your website? Yes or no?

Did you add a link to their website on your links page? Yes or no?
