Dear Madeline, Kim and Katie:
| Thank you for your e-mail letters of December 27th and January 31st
addressed to Director's Office. Education and Rights & Reproductions
as well as your letter to AMICO have all been forwarded to my attention
for a direct reply. |
| Your e-mails to my knowledge are the first request we have received
from elementary students requesting digital images for their website.
Our website was designed to be educational and yet provide information
about the museum to an audience who may not have a chance to visit the
museum. I do not think we view the website as solely advertisement,
but that would be up to your committee to make a judgment. |
| Please visit the following educational sections on our website,
History, Featured Artist, Edward Hopper, Recent Acquisitions, Internet
Artist and the Breuer Building. We are currently working on our new
educational website and under separate cover we will respond in greater
detail. |
| Please visit the American Century Website www.ArtMuseum.net which
was created to be solely as an educational experience to be used by people
of all ages and is being used in classrooms. You will notice in the
American Century Website that next to the illustrations there are copyright
notices and if you click on the titles of the works of art, which are underscored,
you will go to the copyright page. This page has separate listings
for artwork, biographies, histories, other. All the copyright owners
are clearly stated. Permission was obtained for every part of the
website inclucing the music and film portions. We did draw up a contract
and sometimes we had to sign or agree to contracts that were provided by
the copyright owners. |
| We will be willing to supply you with a 35mm color slide of the
museum to use on your site, but you must formally write us a letter giving
us your website address, title of your website, how long your site will
up and your legal addresses in the event that we need to contact you directly. |
| We look forward to receiving your letter or telephone call. |
| Sincerely,
Anita Duquette, Manager
Rights and Reproductions |
