It is kind of the same way one domino causes the other dominoes to fall.
In the Great Depression, people lost all of their money in the stock market.
Then they couldn't buy any goods.
With no one buying anything, stores went bankrupt.
When the stores went bankrupt, their suppliers went bankrupt.
Then most people are either out of a job and/or with no money.
