One teacher responded that she had lived in Hawaii from when she was six until she was ten. Hawaii is about half way between Guam and the west coast of the United States. Hawaii was not a state when she lived there, so the island of Oahu did not have the number of tourists it has now. The beaches were quiet and she remembered all the wonderful smells of flowers everywhere.

Waikiki Beach was her favorite place to visit because her brothers and sisters used to sit on the beach and let the large waves wash over them. They would watch the waves build up and wait excitedly for them to reach the shore! I'm definitely putting Hawaii on my list of states to visit!
