Southern Guam
Talofofo Caves
Hello, all you tourists!  If you want to see something really amazing you should come to the Talofofo Caves in Southern Guam.  I should know it's cool because I was just there!  My favorite cave went back really far!  Another one, my dad wouldn't let me climb down into because it was so steep. You can see worn places in the rocks where Chamorros, ancient inhabitants of Guam, ground rice.   At the end of this mile hike, you can look out over the Southern part of the island.  If you really want adventure, come explore a cave in Guam!

When you continue along the Southern coast of Guam, there are many places to swim in Inarajan or Merizo.  These two villages offer many scenic overlooks if you want to just pull your car off the road.  Inarajan
Spanish Fort

As you travel farther, you will reach the village of Umatac.  There is a Spanish fort which has been restored.  Fort Nuestra Senora Dela Soldad, "Our Lady of Solitude," was built during the 300 years that the Spanish occupied Guam.  The harbor in Umatac is where Magellan landed in 1521.  There is also a beautiful bridge across the harbor.

The Spanish occupied Guam until 1898 when Guam was ceded to the United States following the Spanish American War.  A monument to Captain Glass, the first Naval Officer to claim Guam for America is located at Gab Gab Beach in Apra Harbor on the Naval Base.

Southern Guam offers many other sight seeing opportunities for those interested in a "boonie stomp" or hike through the jungle.  Come and explore this tropical island in the Pacific!
