The Navy Base in Guam
has many historical places to visit. The American Navy came to Guam
in 1898. During World War II the Japanese occupied Orote Peninsula
and built bunkers like these. Soldiers would fire from their lookout
positions on any enemies that approached. |

The Japanese Navy left
behind many items when they left Guam. There is a museum on the American
Navy Base today which contains artifacts like the buoy in the picture on
the left. The picture on the right is what is left of the Sumay village
church. It was bombed during WWII. |

Many people lost their
lives, but so did many dogs. There is a cemetary dedicated to the
dogs that helped the Marines locate bombs during WWII. |
