Magellan: Launched on May 4, 1989. Designed to map the surface of Venus in order to determine its topographic characteristics.

Pioneer Venus: Launched on May 20, 1978.Designed to study the atmosphere and the clouds.

Mariner-10: Launched on November 3, 1973. Designed to survey the surface.

Mariner-5: Launched on June 14, 1967. Designed to measure the planets brightness.

Mariner-2; Launched on August 27, 1962. Designed to gather data.

Lunar Prospector: Launched on January 6, 1998 Designed to help resarchers understand the moon.

Clementine: Launched on January 25,1994.

Apollo: Launched on 1963-1972. Designed to put a man on the moon.

Lunar Orbiter 1-5: Launched During 1966 – 67.

Surveyor 1-7: Launched during 1966-1968.

Ranger 7-9: Launched during 1964-1965.

Pioneer 3-4: Launched during 1958-1959.

Jupiter exploration projects

Galileo Orbiter & Probe: Launched on October 18, 1989.

Ulysses: Launched on October 6, 1990.

Pioneer-10: Launched on March 2, 1972. Designed to photograph Jupiter.

Mars exploration projects

Mars Climate Orbiter: Launched on December 11,1998. Designed to arrive at Mars in September 1999.

Mars Polar lander: Launched on January 3, 1999. Designed to be the first ever to land in the polar regions of Mars.

Mars 2001 lander/rover: Planned launch date on April 10,2001. Designed to survey Mars.

Mars Express: Planned launch date on June 2003. Designed to explore the atmosphere the surface of Mars.

Mars Global Surveyor: launched on November 7,1996. Designed to survey Mars.

Mars Pathfinder: Launched on December 2, 1996. Designed to scout for a landing site.

Saturn Exploration projects

Cassini: Launched on October 15, 1997. Designed to study Saturn’s planetary features and land on the moon Titan.

Voyager 2: Launched on August 20, 1977. Designed to tour the outer solar system.

Voyager 1: Launched on September 5,1977. Designed to follow on the path heels of pioneer 11.

Pioneer 11: Launched on April 5,1973. Designed to visit the outer solar system.

Asteroid Exploration Projects

Near-Earth Asteroid Rendezvous (Near): Launched on February 17,1996. Designed to be the first to orbit an asteroid.

Galileo: Gaspra, Ida, and Dactyl: Launched on October 18, 1989. Designed to observe several asteroids close up.

Deep Space 1: Launched on October 24,1998. Designed to test advanced spacecraft technologies .

Muses –CN: Planned launch date on January 2002. Designed to return mission mounted by the Japanese Institute.

Comets Exploration Projects

International Sun-Earth Explorer 3 / International Cometary Explorer (ICE): Launched on August 12,1978. Designed to investigate two comets.

New Millennium Program, Deep Space 1: Launched on October 24,1998. Designed to test advanced spacecraft technologies.

Stardust: Launched on February 7,1999. Designed to return material from a comet.

Contour: Planned launch date July 2002. Designed to encounter and study at least 3 comets.

Deep Impact: Planned launch date on January 4,2004. Designed to excavate the interior of a comet.
