Basic Tornado Information
A tornado is violent whirling wind, along with a funnel shaped cloud extending from a cumulous cloud. The pressure of the air near the bottom of the funnel is extremely low. When this low-pressure area touches down it acts like a humungous vacuum cleaner. The first sign of a tornado usually is a strong whirlwind of dust from the ground surface normally, at the same time a short funnel grows from the bigger storm cloud above it.
