Droughts
A drought is described as a long period of time
when there is un-normal dry weather. The results
of this is animals will die because of no water,
plants will not grow, and wells will dry up, etc. Some
droughts will last only 14 days and some will last up
to two years. Droughts happen most often in the
desert and in the summer. Scientists say that droughts are caused by warm,
tropical masses of air descending to the earth. Droughts cannot be predicted
because precautions can be taken
in drought risk areas, such as construction
of reservoirs to hold emergency supplies for holding water and to educate
people from over cropping and over gazing in drought prone areas.
