The Tennessee Walking horses were used by plantation owners.  The Tennessee Walker has a great gait called the running walk.  That made covering miles quick and easy.  Also they were developed with the same breeds as the American Saddlebred.  This horse moves gracefully and smoothly.  This is a pretty fast animal, and it is also very gentle.  They are good for long rides and a good family horse.
