What makes Appaloosas so special?  Appaloosas are gentle they are also good horses for children as well as adults.  Appaloosas don't have just colorful coats.  They also have other characteristics that are not seen in other breeds.  They have a thin mane and tail.  Their tails are different, and sometimes they are called " rat tails".  Lots of Appaloosas have striped hooves.
