Dire Wolf

The scientific name for the Dire Wolf is Canis Dirus. The average Dire Wolf was about 1.5 meters (5 feet) long and weighed 200 pounds on average. They lived all over the midwestern U.S. They were scavengers who ate horses and bison. They used their teeth to crush the animal's bones. Dire Wolves were very sluggish because all they had to do is find something already dead to eat. Dire Wolves had a heavy, solid, and thick body type. Their teeth were bigger than any other animals which made it extremely easy to chew up a carcass. Dire Wolves scavenged for food in packs. They became extinct about 10,000 years ago.
