Have you ever wanted to write your own book? Maybe you could be a Newbery winner. Authors have their own style, but they all follow the same basic process. The following are the steps in the writing process and grammar tips.

Prewriting

Form Ideas

Think about what you want to say

Plan how you will say it

Drafting

Organize your thoughts
Write a first draft
Have others read and give suggestions

Revising

Read what you wrote
Add or take out parts
Change words or ideas to other ones

Proofreading

Make sure all sentences are complete
Check spelling, capitalization, and punctuation
Recopy it correctly and neatly

Publishing

Read it out loud to a person or group
Illustrate it
Display it for others

Grammar

End Marks- There is three types of end marks. A period (.) ends a declarative or imperative sentence. A question mark (?) follows a interrogative sentence. An exclamation point (!) follows an exclamatory sentence

Colon- Use a colon after the greeting in a business letter.

Comma- Use a comma to separate two or more adjectives.

A or An? - Use the words a and an before singular nouns. Use a before a word that begins with a consonant sound. Use an before a worse that begins with a vowel sound.

The- Use the with both singular and plural nouns. Use the to point out particular, persons places, or things.

Can or May? - Can means "to be able to do something". May means "to be permitted."
