This is the story about the son of a famous
bullfighter in Spain. The boy’s father fought many bulls and the people of his town
were very proud of him. The father dies when the boy, Manolo, is only three years old. The
people of the town believe that Manolo will one day be as famous a bullfighter as his
father. The trouble is that Manolo is not sure that he will be able to fight the bulls.
When you read the story, you are able to feel what it would be like to be Manolo and see
how he makes decisions about his life.
