Tornado Formation

Step 1:

In this picture there are dark clouds and precipitation. There are also low hanging clouds that are referred to as wall clouds. The afternoon sun is on the opposite of the storm. The clouds developed about 30 minutes before the tornado.

 

Step 2:

A small funnel cloud develops that is smooth and tapered. There is a loud rumbling noise that sounds like a freight train. There is also a invisible debris cloud that is forming at the surface beneath the funnel and making the tornado.

 

Step 3:

In this picture the tornado touched down two times.

 

Step 4:

In this picture the funnel descends to the surface and remains.

 

Step 5:

The tornado reaches its maximum width and the beginning of a tail cloud extends to the right of the wall cloud.

 

Step 6:

In this picture the tornado starts to gradually shrink.

 

Step 7:

In this picture the tornado is almost completely gone.
