This takes place during a time when ladies wore birds on hats for fashion. Two women start a club against this hideous crime, called the Audubon Society. During this time women didn't have power, some weren't even allowed to read the newspaper. Saving the birds was the main thing on their minds, but saving them also accomplished something else. Today females can vote, and are treated like anybody else. This is partially because of the Audubon Society. Birds today are plentiful, and are seen every day. But some birds are extinct, and wouldn't have been if they weren't killed for hats. The Audubon Club saved many birds, and this is their story to show it.
