ON
April 12, 1916 Beverly Cleary was born. She was born in McMinnville,
Oregon at the McMinnville hospital. Her parents names were Mr. Chester
Lloyd Bunn and Mrs. Mable Atlee Bunn. Her mother's maiden name was
Mabel Atlee.

HER
early stages of childhood were mostly spent on her father's farm in Portland,
Oregon. They moved to Portland in 1922 when Beverly was six.

BEVERLY
went to college at the University of California at Berkeley in 1934.
She graduated 5 years later after getting her Masters degree. After that
she got on with her life.

IN
the 1940s she studied to be a librarian at the University of Washington
in Seattle, Washington. She stayed there for as long as they thought
she needed training. She was a natural librarian. Later she
obtained a job working at a local bookstore in Yamhill.

AFTER
working at the book store for so long Beverly gave writing books a try.
She was a natural writer and came up with many good novels that were not
published because Beverly did not like them.

IN
mid 1950 Beverly published her first children's book. It was Henry
Huggins. It was very popular then and still is now. After that
she became a very successful writer and now writes for Scholastic Publishers
& Company.

1955 she had twin babies named Malcolm and Marianne. They are now
full grown and no longer live with their Mommy.
