Also, it is the lowest part of the brain stem. At the bottom of the medulla oblongata is the regular stem of the human body, and at the top of the medulla is the midbrain and the pons. Sensory and motor nerve fibers connecting the brain to the rest of the body cross over to the opposite side as they pass through the medulla. |
