Discovery
Half a century ago Neptune was discovered by the Berlin observatory in 1846. Scientists didnt know a lot about the planet until they sent out the Voyager 2 probe in 1989.
The best two ways a person could describe Neptune are remote and blue. Very, very blue. Neptune's surface is mostly rocks and ice. The great dark spot near the center of Neptune resemblesJupiters spot in both appearence and size. Neptune can not be seen on earth without a telescope. Even with a telescope Neptune just looks like a little Blue dot. Neptune also has semi- rings going around it!!!
Neptune was named after the Roman god of the sea. Neptune is the eighth planet in the solar system. And it takes Neptune 165 years to orbit the sun. Neptune rotates eastward once every sixteen hours and three minutes. Neptune's north and South poles like those of it's nieghbor Uranus are fifty degrees away from it's geographic poles. As you can see Neptune is very interesting!!
